SOIREE SUCCESS SCORES VENTILATOR FOR MORONGO BASIN AMBULANCE

The Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club’s 19th Annual Dessert Soiree, Auction and popular “$1,000 Deal Or No Deal” game held on April 15, 2023, exceeded expectations in raising funds for this year’s non-profit recipients, Morongo Basin Ambulance Association (MBAA) and Sunset Rotary’s community projects. On May 4 representatives from Morongo Basin Ambulance Association were presented with a check for $25,000 from Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary which will be used to purchase a necessary portable ventilator for use in critical care patient transports. Effective June 1, MBAA will be one of a very few ambulance services in California able to provide Critical Care transports by certified Critical Care Paramedics.

Making this event a huge success were event sponsors: Pacific Western Bank, San Bernardino County 3rd District Supervisor Dawn Rowe, and Hill’s Towing, plus auctioneers Dan Letourneau and Chris Gubler. The “$1,000 Deal Or No Deal” briefcase sponsors included: Yucca Auto Body, Crown Contracting Inc., McDonald’s, Rarick Financial Group, Ron’s Automotive, Cherie Miller & Associates, and Dan’s Carpet Cleaning, Pacific Western Bank, 3rd District Supervisor Dawn Rowe, & Hill’s Towing. The success of this event was also due to the many local businesses who donated auction items and, of course, the generous community supporters attending and participating in the event.

Yucca Valley Sunset President Tami Montgomery said, “We selected Morongo Basin Ambulance Association as the primary beneficiary this year for the service they provide here in our Morongo Basin. We saw the need to help upgrade their service to a critical care transport. Every year MBAA

comes to the Orchid Festival where we first heard about the need for a portable ventilator. As always, every Sunset Rotarian played a part in the success of the Dessert Soirée.”

Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary Club meets on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM at Black Bear Diner in Yucca Valley.
